Regular Season Round 6: Venezia - Brescia 94-47
Date: October 29, 2022
Very expected game when 11th ranked Brescia (1-5) was smashed on the road by top-ranked Venezia (6-0) 94-47 on Saturday. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Brescia's 18 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Brescia 50-31 including a 42-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Jessica Shepard (193-1996, college: Notre Dame) notched 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Belgian Antonia Delaere (181-1994) supported her with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 9 rebounds by Croatian center Lorena Molnar (188-1998) did not help to save the game for Brescia. Guard Carlotta Zanardi (180-2005) added 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Venezia have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Schio. Newly promoted Brescia keeps the eleventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Valdarno and Lucca. Venezia will meet Lucca (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Brescia will play against Campobasso and hope to win that game.
