Polonia has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Lublin, where they outplayed Start 2 (0-6) 115-55 on Sunday. Polonia dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Start 2's 34. Polonia forced 20 Start 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 57-27 including a 41-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Start 2's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Patryk Wieczorek (188-1996) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Damian Szczepanik (198-1997) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Polonia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Wiktor Kepka (194-2003) who recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Wojciech Nojszewski (196-2003) added 16 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Polonia (1-5) left bottom position moving up to sixteenth place, which they share with Polonia W-wa. It was Start 2's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Polonia will meet at home higher ranked Gornik (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Start 2 will play against Enea Basket (#8) in Poznan and hopes to get finally their first victory.
