There was no surprise when 14th ranked Verona (1-4) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Milano (4-1) 78-54 on Sunday. Milano made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Nicolo Melli (205-1991) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American DeShaun Thomas (201-1991, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Xavier Johnson (201-1993, college: Colorado) responded with 8 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Taylor Smith (199-1991, college: SF Austin) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place.
