Regular Season Round 6: Schio - Faenza 103-69
Date: October 30, 2022
Serie A1 top team - Schio (6-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Faenza (2-4) 103-69. Schio forced 20 Faenza turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Schio looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American point guard Marina Mabrey (180, college: Notre Dame) notched 18 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Martina Bestagno (189) supported her with 20 points. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by Nigerian forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern) did not help to save the game for Faenza. Center Beatrice Baldi (185-2000) added 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Schio have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-0 record, which they share with Venezia. Faenza at the other side dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with Ragusa and Moncalieri. Schio will meet at home Moncalieri (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Faenza will play against Sassari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
