Regular Season Round 5: Torun - Arka Gdynia 51-78
Date: October 30, 2022
Very expected game when 8th ranked Katarzynki (1-2) was smashed by second ranked Arka Gdynia (4-1) in Torun 78-51 on Sunday. Arka Gdynia outrebounded Katarzynki 42-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Katarzynki's players. International center Kamila Borkowska (201-2002) nailed 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Ukrainian power forward Tetyana Yurkevicius (187-1995) accounted for 6 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. American guard Alexis Jones (175-1994, college: Baylor) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Angelika Stankiewicz (170-1995) added 12 points respectively for Katarzynki in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Arka Gdynia maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Gorzow Wlkp. Loser Katarzynki keeps the eighth position with two games lost. Arka Gdynia will meet at home Polonia W-wa (#5) in the next round. Katarzynki will play against Polkowice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
