Regular Season Round 4: Montana - Duga 85-78

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Montana. Third ranked Bulgarian Montana faced their biggest opponent Serbian Duga. Host Montana (3-1) defeated guests from Sabac (2-2) 85-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Duga. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But Duga won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montana made 30-of-33 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Montana outrebounded Duga 53-31 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Monique Reid (185-1990, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Alexa Hart (190-1995, college: Ohio St.) who added 18 points, 24 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Courtney Cleveland (178-1999, college: SHSU) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and center Tijana Jelic (191-1999, agency: BeoBasket) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Montana moved-up to second place. Loser Duga dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Banovici. Montana will meet Banovici (#4) on the road in the next round. Duga will play against Play Off and hope to secure a win.
