Regular Season Round 7: IA - Hrunamenn 83-104

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Hrunamenn (3-4) crushed 5th ranked IA (3-4) in Akranes 104-83 on Friday. The game without a history. Hrunamenn led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game, while IA only scored nine points from the stripe. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Hungarian forward Sam Burt (201-1994, college: FPU) accounted for 23 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winning side. Burt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Anders Adersteg (197-1995) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Irish-British guard Lucien Christofis (188-1996) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for IA in the defeat. Five Hrunamenn and four IA players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hrunamenn moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Skallagrimur and IA. Hrunamenn will meet at home league's second-placed Sindri in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. IA will play against the league's leader Alftanes and hope to secure a win.
