Regular Season Round 5: Huima - Kristika Turku 97-88 OT

Huima's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Kristika Turku (1-4) 97-88 on Saturday. Kristika Turku was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-23 charge of Huima, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-2. Huima made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Kristika Turku turnovers. American guard Zach Naylor (203, college: Tarleton St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Deontaye Buskey (185, college: Charleston So.) accounted for 32 points and 4 assists. Forward Aku Haikonen (201-1996) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and forward Joona Airenne (200) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Kristika Turku in the defeat. Four Kristika Turku players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Huima (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Loser Kristika Turku dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Huima will meet higher ranked ToPo Juniorit (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kristika Turku will play against Raiders Basket (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
