No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Varese (4-2) beat on the road 14th ranked Scafati (1-5) 101-93 on Sunday. American guard Colbey Ross (185-1998, college: Pepperdine) notched 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and forward Guglielmo Caruso (211-1999, college: Santa Clara, agency: Players Group) supported him with 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Even 29 points by American-Panamanian guard Doron Lamb (191-1991, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Scafati. American power forward Kruize Pinkins (203-1993, college: USF) added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Varese and five Scafati players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Varese have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Venezia and Trento. Newly promoted Scafati dropped to the fifteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Verona. Varese will meet at home Venezia (#5) in the next round. Scafati will play against Sassari (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
