Regular Season Round 6: Monopoli AN - Avellino 86-75

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Monopoli AN (3-3) beat at home 8th ranked Avellino (3-3) 86-75 on Sunday. Monopoli AN had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Riccardo Ballabio (180-1998) who scored 20 points. Nicola Bastone (195-1992) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Monopoli AN players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Donato Vitale (185-1998) who recorded 11 points and 6 rebounds and forward Marco Venga (190-2003) added 16 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively. Monopoli AN moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 13 other teams including defeated Avellino. Avellino lost third consecutive game. Monopoli AN will meet higher ranked Bisceglie (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Avellino will play against Trinita and hope to secure a win.
