Regular Season Round 6: Aistes-LSMU - Riga/Juniores 71-40
Date: November 6, 2022
There was no surprise in Kaunas where 6th ranked Latvian Riga/Juniores (1-3) were crushed by fourth ranked Lithuanian Aistes-LSMU (3-2) 71-40 on Sunday. Aistes-LSMU held Riga/Juniores to an opponent 21.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Aistes-LSMU forced 22 Riga/Juniores turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aistes-LSMU made 7 blocks. Forward Martyna Petrenaite (181-1998) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Urte Cizauskaite (187-2003) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Krista Lukasevica (186-2006) with 6 points and 11 rebounds and forward Sarlote Petersone (173-2003) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Aistes-LSMU went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with LCC Tarp. Loser Riga/Juniores dropped to the ninth place with three games lost. Aistes-LSMU will meet at home Liepaja/LSSS (#7) in the next round. Riga/Juniores will have a break next round.
