Regular Season Round 9: Borisfen - Grodno 95-83

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mogilev. First ranked Borisfen faced second-best Grodno. Host Borisfen (9-1) defeated guests from Grodno (6-3) 95-83. Borisfen made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Grodno turnovers. Strangely Grodno outrebounded Borisfen 37-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Darrious Agnew (203-1999, college: Alcorn St.) stepped up and scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Malik Porter (196, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international forward Aliaksandr Pustahvar (201-1985) with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and Serbian power forward Nikola Djuric (203-1991) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Borisfen. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Loser Grodno keeps the second position with three games lost. Borisfen will meet Gomel (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Grodno will play against Impuls BGUIR (#3) in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
