Regular Season Round 7: La Matanza - Guadalajara 87-81

There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Guadalajara (4-1) lost to fifth ranked La Matanza (3-2) in Las Palmas 81-87 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for La Matanza especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for Alvaro Gomez (195-2000) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar (190-1996) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Venezuelan power forward Luis Valera (202-1988, college: UTRGV) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward David Garcia (200-1999) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Guadalajara in the defeat. Five La Matanza and four Guadalajara players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. La Matanza moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser Guadalajara keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. La Matanza will meet Pinto Basket (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guadalajara will play against Estudiantes B (#10) and hope to secure a win.
