Rather expected game in Warszawa where 7th ranked Polonia W-wa (2-4) was rolled over by fourth ranked Polkowice (4-2) 99-65 on Saturday. Polkowice outrebounded Polonia W-wa 41-21 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for Zimbabwean-American center Stephanie Mavunga (191-1995, college: Ohio St., agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Weronika Gajda (174-1989) helped adding 15 points and 8 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Polkowice players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Jessica Jackson (193-1995, college: Arkansas) responded with 15 points and Greek point guard Angeliki Vintsilaiou (173-1998) scored 15 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 4-2 record. Polonia W-wa lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Polkowice will meet at home league's second-placed Sosnowiec in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Polonia W-wa will play against Bydgoszcz (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
