Regular Season Round 7: Ragusa - Desio 81-83

Very expected game when 12th ranked Ragusa (2-5) was edged at home by fourth ranked Desio (5-2) 83-81 on Saturday. Desio forced 21 Ragusa turnovers. Strangely Ragusa outrebounded Desio 42-21 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for power forward Giacomo Maspero (204-1992) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Andrea Mazzoleni (197-1998) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side guard Giovanni Ianelli (190-2000) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Maltese center Kurt Cassar (208-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Desio. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 7 other teams. Ragusa lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Desio will meet at home Crema (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ragusa will play against Cd'Orlando (#14) in Capo d'Orlando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
