Regular Season Round 7: Neptunas - Riga/Juniores 91-51

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Lithuanian Neptunas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Neptunas smashed 9th ranked Latvian Riga/Juniores in Klaipeda 91-51. Neptunas made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game, while Riga/Juniores only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Riga/Juniores 51-25 including a 37-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Neptunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Riga/Juniores' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Agne Cerneckyte (173-1996) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Ukrainian swingman Viktoria Balaban (176-1997, agency: BIG) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. Forward Sarlote Petersone (173-2003) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Kate Kondratjeva (180-2005) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Riga/Juniores. Riga/Juniores' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Neptunas (6-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Riga/Juniores lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with Daugavpils. Riga/Juniores will play next round against Liepaja/LSSS trying to get back on the winning streak. Neptunas will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked LCC Tarp.. It will be extra interesting game as LCC Tarp. is their local rival from Klaipeda.
