The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Empoli as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Empoli smashed 12th ranked Vigarano at home 78-57. They outrebounded Vigarano 45-31 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Empoli especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Vigarano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Laura Manetti (180-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. The former international guard Antonia Peresson (170-1995, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Giulia Sorrentino (175-1998) who recorded 17 points and forward Isabella Olajide (183-2000) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Empoli have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Udine. Vigarano at the other side dropped to the eighth place with four games lost.
