We should mention about the upset which took place in Voula, where higher ranked Proteas (3-3) lost at home to tenth ranked Niki Lefkadas (2-4) 56-65 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Proteas. Niki Lefkadas forced 19 Proteas turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Abby OConnor (183-1998, college: Gonzaga) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Stasha Carey (188-1995, college: Rutgers) chipped in 9 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Nicollette Gilday (175-1992, college: Santa Clara) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Niki Lefkadas moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Giannena. Newly promoted Proteas keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Niki Lefkadas will meet at home higher ranked PAOK (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Proteas will play against Esperides in Glyfada and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
