Regular Season Round 7: Santa Cruz - Getafe 86-95

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Getafe (3-2) won against 12th ranked Santa Cruz (1-4) in La Palma 95-86 on Sunday. Getafe dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Cruz's 36. They outrebounded Santa Cruz 57-38 including a 42-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Getafe looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Pablo Perez (182-1997) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Swingman Nicolas Gonzalez (-1998) accounted for 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Getafe players scored in double figures. Eduardo Chacon came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and American Romeo Smith (201-1995, college: Missouri Valley) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Santa Cruz in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Getafe moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Santa Cruz lost their fourth game in a row. Santa Cruz at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Getafe will meet at home higher ranked Rivas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
