Regular Season Round 7: Mantova - Udine 72-81

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Mantova (3-3) lost to fourth ranked Udine (6-1) in Mirandola 72-81 on Sunday. Udine dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Mantova's 20. It was an exceptional evening for Mattia Palumbo (198-2000) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. The former international power forward Raphael Gaspardo (207-1993, agency: Players Group) accounted for 19 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winning side. Four Udine players scored in double figures. American point guard Anthony Miles (184-1989, college: Lamar) came up with 23 points and Giovanni Veronesi (198-1998, agency: SLN) added 16 points respectively for Mantova in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Udine have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Mantova dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Udine will meet at home league's second-placed Pistoia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mantova will play against Rimini (#14) and hope to secure a win.
