Very expected game when 12th ranked Valdarno (1-7) was rolled over on the road by top-ranked Venezia (8-0) 90-46 on Sunday. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Valdarno's 30. They outrebounded Valdarno 40-23 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Venezia looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Valdarno's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jessica Shepard (193-1996, college: Notre Dame) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Belgian Antonia Delaere (181-1994) who added 13 points and 8 assists during the contest. Australian guard Madeleine Garrick (180-1992) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Emilia Bove (188-1988) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezia have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Schio. Newly promoted Valdarno dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Venezia will meet Bologna (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Valdarno will play against Moncalieri (#8) and hope to win that game.
