There was no surprise in Kouvola where 8th ranked Kouvottaret (3-7) was defeated by sixth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (5-5) 86-68 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Tampereen Pyrinto. Kouvottaret managed to win second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kouvottaret 46-35 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Reili Richardson (180-1998, college: Arizona St.) had a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand guard Tera Reed (183-1998, college: USC) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Tierra Hodges (175-1998, college: Furman) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and guard Henriikka Vahauski (185-2002) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Kouvottaret's coach tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Tampereen Pyrinto moved-up to fifth place, which they share with ViVe. Kouvottaret lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto will meet at home Forssan Alku (#8) in the next round. Kouvottaret will play against Tapiolan Honka in Espoo and hope to secure a win.
