Regular Season Round 9: Kauhajoki - Lahti 85-68
Date: November 16, 2022
Very predictable result when second ranked Kauhajoki (7-2) beat at home 8th ranked Lahti (4-6) 85-68 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Lahti managed to win third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kauhajoki looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated also this game. Guard Cameron Jones (193-1989, college: NAU, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and forward Manny Patterson (203-1998, college: SEMO) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Devon Thomas (183-1994, college: Texas Tech) with 21 points and guard Michael Ertel II (188-1999, college: UAB) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kauhajoki have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Kobrat. Lahti lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Kauhajoki will meet Kataja (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lahti will play against Vilpas (#8) in Salo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
