Regular Season Round 9: Selfoss - Armann 87-81

Armann (1-1) recorded the loss on the court of fourth ranked Selfoss on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Selfoss 87-81. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Armann won third quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Selfoss made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (203-1984, college: UT Martin) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Birkir Eythorsson (201-2006) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Arnor Hermannsson (192-1998) who recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Illugi Steingrimsson (192-1996) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Armann's coach Karl Guddaugsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Selfoss maintains fourth place with 6-3 record. Newly promoted Armann keeps the eighth position with one game lost. Selfoss are looking forward to face Fjolnir (#9) in Reykjavik in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Armann will play on the road against Skallagrimur in Borganes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
