There was a minor upset in Madrid where one of their biggest challengers Rivas (4-2) was edged by fifth ranked Getafe (4-2) 70-68 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was point guard Pablo Perez (182-1997) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Argentinian swingman Joaquin Sanchez (188-1998) chipped in 13 points. Four Getafe players scored in double figures. Forward Alberto Torres (201-1998, college: Iowa Wesleyan) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and forward Miguel Young (200-1990) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Getafe have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 8 other teams including defeated Rivas. Getafe will meet Aridane (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rivas will play against the league's leader Real Madrid 2 (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
