Regular Season Round 9: Widzew - Pol.Krakow 45-68

Everything went according to plan in Lodz where sixth ranked Pol.Krakow (5-3) outleveled 10th ranked Widzew (2-6) 68-45 on Saturday. Pol.Krakow dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Widzew's 22. Pol.Krakow forced 21 Widzew turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Natalia Lawicka (181-2000) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and power forward Angelika Kuras (183-1992) chipped in 6 points and 10 rebounds. Pol.Krakow's coach Wojciech Downar-Zapolski felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Anna Kudelska (169-1998) with 25 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Marta Piatek (190-1989) scored 4 points and 5 rebounds. Pol.Krakow moved-up to fifth place, which they share with GTK Gdynia and AZS UG. Loser Widzew keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Pol.Krakow will meet at home Katy Wrocl. (#8) in the next round. Widzew will play against the league's second-placed Poznan MUKS and hope to secure a win.
