Regular Season Round 7: Zornotza - Baskonia B 76-72

Very expected game when 13th ranked Baskonia B (1-6) lost to fifth ranked Zornotza (5-2) in Amorebieta-Echano 72-76 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was an exceptional evening for Mohamed Niang (198-2000) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Iker Salazar (202-1993, agency: Promo Sport ID) accounted for 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. Australian power forward Damian Prgomet (208-1996, college: SW Baptist) came up with 16 points and point guard Gaizka Maiza (191-1996) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for Baskonia B in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Zornotza. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 6 other teams. Baskonia B lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Zamora. Zornotza will meet Tormes (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia B will play against Ponferrada and hope to win that game.
