Very expected game when 14th ranked Girona (2-6) lost at home to fourth ranked Gran Canaria (6-2) 78-69 on Saturday. The winners were led by American-Lithuanian John Shurna (204-1990, college: Northwestern) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Miquel Salvo (205-1994) supported him with 13 points. Even 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) did not help to save the game for Girona. International center Marc Gasol (216-1985) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gran Canaria moved-up to second place, which they share with Real Madrid and Barca. Newly promoted Girona keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
