Date: November 19, 2022
Everything could happen in Tbilisi at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Olimpi and bottom-ranked Batumi had identical 0-2 record. This time Olimpi used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Batumi 93-83 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpi. Batumi managed to win fourth quarter 33-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Olimpi forced 22 Batumi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The winners were led by American forward Linton Acliese III (198-1998, college: EWU) who scored that evening 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and point guard Luka Liklikadze (186-2003) supported him with 14 points and 9 assists. Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 assists by American guard Kyle Riddley (192-1996, college: Pfeiffer, agency: Project B Sports) did not help to save the game for Batumi. His fellow American import forward Alonzo Stafford (198-1993, college: CCC) added 16 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Batumi's coach Anatoli Berishvili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Olimpi (1-2) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Titebi. It was Batumi's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Olimpi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena TSU.
