Very expected game when bottom-ranked Vera (0-4) was edged by fourth ranked Delta (3-1) in Gurjaani 93-92 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Vera was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 20-17 charge of Delta, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-9. Delta outrebounded Vera 53-35 including 38 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Avi Toomer (190-1997, college: Bucknell) who scored that evening 24 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Gegi Baqradze (206-1994) supported him with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Toomer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-1996, college: Findlay, OH) did not help to save the game for Vera. The former international guard Luka Zakradze (193-1996) added 13 points and 11 assists for lost side. Four Delta and five Vera players scored in double figures. Vera's coach Davit Gasitashvili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Delta have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Cactus. Loser Vera still closes the standings with four games lost. Delta will meet Mega (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Vera will play against Kutaisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
