Regular Season Round 4: Kutaisi - TSU 86-98

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Kutaisi (1-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked TSU (2-2) 98-86. The game was mostly controlled by TSU. Kutaisi managed to win second period 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when TSU made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Mikhail Berishvili (204-1987) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. The former international point guard George Tsintsadze (192-1986) contributed with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. TSU's coach Leqso Lapanashvili used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Chris Ware (203-1989, college: Indiana Tech) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Luka Maziashvili (187-2000, college: UMass Lowell) added 13 points and 8 assists in the effort for Kutaisi. Four TSU and five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. TSU moved-up to fifth place. Defending champion Kutaisi dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Olimpi.
