Very expected game in Athens where 11th ranked Ionikos (1-5) was defeated by second ranked AEK (5-1) 92-77 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tim Frazier (185-1990, college: Penn St.) who scored 22 points and 9 assists. Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four AEK players scored in double figures. AEK's coach Ilias Kantzouris used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Deontae Hawkins (203-1993, college: Boston Coll., agency: Slash Sports) who recorded 21 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import Daniel Hamilton (201-1995, college: UConn) added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists respectively. AEK maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Olympiacos. Ionikos lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with five games lost. AEK will meet Kolossos HH (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ionikos will play against Apollon P. and hope to win that game.
