Regular Season Round 10: Zgierz - AZS UMK 68-84

Very expected game when 9th ranked Zgierz (5-5) lost at home to fourth ranked AZS UMK (7-2) 84-68 on Saturday. Point guard Przemyslaw Tradecki (185-1989) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the effort and Arkadiusz Kobus (196-1986) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Four AZS UMK players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by naturalized British forward Sebastian Ferenc (206-1995, college: Missouri S&T) did not help to save the game for Zgierz. Guard Hubert Lewandowski (192-1997) added 11 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AZS UMK moved-up to third place, which they share with Tur Bielsk Pdl. and UR Krakow. Newly promoted Zgierz dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. AZS UMK will meet at home Notec Inowr. (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Zgierz will play against AMW Gdynia and hope to secure a win.
