No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Moncalieri (4-5) beat on the road bottom-ranked Valdarno (1-8) 75-67 on Saturday. American forward Kathryn Westbeld (190-1996, college: Notre Dame) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Chelsea Mitchell (175-1997, college: Morgan St.) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. Australian guard Madeleine Garrick (180-1992) came up with 25 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Elisabetta Tassinari (175-1994) added 16 points respectively for Valdarno in the defeat. Valdarno's coach Alberto Matassini rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Moncalieri maintains eighth place with 4-5 record, which they share with Ragusa. Valdarno lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Moncalieri will meet at home Lucca (#13) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valdarno will play against Campobasso and hope to win that game.
