Regular Season Round 8: Pozega - Orka 115-47
Date: November 19, 2022
Eighth ranked Pozega (3-5) crushed at home 11th ranked Orka (1-7) by 68 points 115-47, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Pozega dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Orka's 36 and had 23 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Orka only scored two points from the stripe. Pozega forced 23 Orka turnovers and outrebounded them 57-28 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Orka's players. The best player for the winners was American center Sabreen Muslim (189-1998, college: WILMU) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. The former international forward Jelena Ivezic (183-1984) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Pozega players scored in double figures. Guard Rahela Mikulic (177-1992) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and guard Lucija Pesut (165-2005) added 9 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pozega moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Pula. Orka lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with FSV Rijeka. Pozega will meet Pula (#8) on the road in the next round. Orka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Zagreb Tresnjevka.
