Regular Season Round 7: Esperides - Proteas 74-65

Everything could happen in Glyfada at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Esperides and 6th ranked Proteas had identical 3-3 record. This time Esperides used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Voula 74-65 on Saturday night. Esperides made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Esperides outrebounded Proteas 43-24 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Valerie Higgins (185-1998, college: Pacific, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Guard Nausia Woolfolk (175-1998, college: FSU) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Nicollette Gilday (175-1992, college: Santa Clara) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for Proteas in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Esperides maintains fifth place with 4-3 record. Newly promoted Proteas keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Chania and Niki Lefkadas. Esperides will meet higher ranked PAOK (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Proteas will play against the league's leader Olympiacos and hope to secure a win.
