There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Padova Unione (2-6) defeated at home higher ranked Palermo (3-5) 75-64 on Sunday. Padova Unione made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Mirco Turel (195-1994) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and center Ivan Morgillo (206-1992, agency: Players Group) supported him with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by Dario Masciarelli (195-1998) did not help to save the game for Palermo. Point guard Valerio Costa (185-1997, agency: SLN) added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Padova Unione moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Palermo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with 7 other teams. Padova Unione will meet higher ranked Crema (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Palermo will play against the league's leader Orzinuovi and will have a slim chance for a victory.
