Regular Season Round 7: Caceres - Cantabria 66-79

Very expected game when 14th ranked Caceres (2-5) lost at home to fifth ranked Cantabria (5-2) 79-66 on Sunday. Cantabria made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Shakir Smith (185-1992, college: ASU) who led the winners and scored 30 points. Bosnian Mirza Bulic (207-1992) accounted for 11 points for the winning side. Haitian-Canadian forward Kevin Bercy (201-1994, college: St.Francis X.) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Lithuanian power forward Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-1989, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Caceres in the defeat. Four Caceres players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cantabria. Newly promoted Cantabria maintains fifth place with 5-2 record. Loser Caceres dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Cantabria will meet at home league's second-placed Palencia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caceres will play against Albacete (#16) and hope to secure a win.
