Very important is a road loss of third ranked PeU-Basket (5-2) against ninth ranked Pantterit (4-3) on Sunday night. Visiting PeU-Basket was edged by Pantterit in a tough game in Helsinki 83-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of PeU-Basket. PeU-Basket was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 28-23 charge of Pantterit, which allowed them to win the game. Pantterit had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pantterit made 7 blocks. Guard Michael Besselink (198-1999, college: Binghamton) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Center Gezim Bajrami (207-2003) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. American point guard Tyrell Carroll (180, college: Angelo St.) produced 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Patrik Poutiainen (198-2001) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. PeU-Basket's coach Esa Makynen tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Pantterit moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser PeU-Basket keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with PuHu Juniorit. Pantterit will meet at home Kataja Ta. (#8) in the next round. PeU-Basket will play against MuKi (#12) and hope to secure a win.
