Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Cartagena and 9th ranked Salou had identical 2-4 record. This time Cartagena used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Salou 70-66 on Sunday night. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Isaiah Powell (198, college: Vermont) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Center Sergio Mendiola (207-1996) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Cartagena players scored in double figures. Power forward Artur Alaminos (202-1991) came up with 9 points and 6 rebounds and American forward CJ Barksdale (203-1992, college: Virginia Tech) added 13 points respectively for Salou in the defeat. Salou's coach Jesus Muniz tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cartagena (3-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Salou dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with 7 other teams. Cartagena will meet Cornella (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Salou will play against Sant Antoni and hope to secure a win.
