Regular Season Round 7: Valur - Hottur 82-79

The most exciting game of round 7 in the Subway League took place in Reykjavik. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Hottur (3-4) to first ranked Valur (6-1) 82-79 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-79. It was a great evening for Argentinian-Italian Pablo Bertone (190-1990, college: FAU, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. British forward Callum Lawson (198-1996, college: ACU, agency: Players Group) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Valur players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) responded with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Hungarian point guard Obie Trotter (192-1984, college: AAMU) scored 20 points. Valur have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-1 record. Newly promoted Hottur keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Grindavik. Valur are looking forward to face Keflavik (#4) at home in the next round. Hottur will play against Grindavik (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
