Regular Season Round 12: Korihait - Seagulls 83-90
Date: November 26, 2022
There was no surprise in Uusikaupunki where 11th ranked Korihait (2-9) was defeated by third ranked Seagulls (8-4) 90-83 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-83. Seagulls outrebounded Korihait 42-24 including 17 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Zena Edosomwan (206-1993, college: Harvard) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jeffrey Carroll (198-1994, college: OK State) who added 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Bosnian point guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-1988) with 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Trey Niemi (185-1998) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Four Seagulls and five Korihait players scored in double figures. Korihait's coach Tero Vasell rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Seagulls have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-4 record behind leader Kauhajoki. Korihait lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with nine games lost. Seagulls will meet at home Nokia (#6) in the next round. Korihait will play against Honka (#11) in Espoo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
