Regular Season Round 9: Zaragoza - Bilbao 67-74

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Zaragoza (2-7) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Bilbao (5-4) 74-67 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American center Michale Kyser (208-1991, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Swedish forward Denzel Andersson (204-1996) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian forward Christian Mekowulu (205-1995, college: Texas A&M) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Polish guard Marcel Ponitka (194-1997) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bilbao moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Joventut and Granada. Loser Zaragoza keeps the fifteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Manresa and Girona. Bilbao will meet at home league's second-placed Gran Canaria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaragoza will play against Unicaja (#6) in Malaga and hope to secure a win.
