Regular Season Round 12: Rubon - Impuls BGUIR 93-84

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vitebsk. Third ranked Rubon faced one of their biggest challengers Impuls BGUIR. Host Rubon (8-5) defeated guests from Minsk (5-7) 93-84. Rubon made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Impuls BGUIR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Russian forward Marsel Ovsepyan (202-1990) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-1986) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Rubon players scored in double figures. Rubon's coach Ruslan Baidakov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Mikita Dashkevich (175-2001) who recorded 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and the former international guard Siarhei Vabishchevich (191-1988) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Rubon have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-5 record having four points less than leader Tsmoki-Minsk U20. Impuls BGUIR lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Rubon are looking forward to face league's leader Borisfen in Mogilev in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Impuls BGUIR will play at home against Gomel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
