Regular Season Round 7: Lavrio - Peristeri 79-85

Bottom-ranked Lavrio (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-79 loss to fourth ranked Peristeri (5-2) in Lavrio on Saturday evening. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Lavrio 37-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. Peristeri looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Dimitrios Agravanis (208-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Leonidas Kaselakis (200-1990) helped adding 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Peristeri players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard RJ Cole (185-1999, college: UConn) responded with 24 points and 9 assists and the other American import swingman Savion Flagg (201-1999, college: SHSU, agency: Green Sports Management) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Peristeri. They moved-up to third place, which they share with AEK. Lavrio lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Peristeri will meet at home Ionikos (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lavrio will play against Aris in Thessaloniki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
