Regular Season Round 6: Chalon/Saone - Nantes 73-70
Date: November 26, 2022
Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Chalon/Saor (4-2) edged at home 14th ranked Nantes (2-4) 73-70 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Chalon/Saor looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international guard Antoine Eito (188-1988) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists to lead the effort and the former international Mickael Gelabale (204-1983) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 5 assists by American-Armenian point guard Terry Smith (185-1986, college: Mercyhurst) did not help to save the game for Nantes. American guard JaCori Payne (180-1996, college: Columbus St.) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Chalon/Saor keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams. Nantes lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Evreux and Orleans. Chalon/Saor will meet at home Entente Orleans 45 (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Nantes will play against Chalons-Reims and hope to secure a win.
