There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Ancona (4-4) edged at home 8th ranked Imola Virtus (5-4) 87-85 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was guard Leonardo Ciribeni (190-1992) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Yannick Giombini (201-2001, agency: SLN) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Luca Galassi (185-1999) who recorded 18 points and Bulgarian Borislav Mladenov (202-2000, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Imola Virtus players scored in double figures. Imola Virtus' coach Marco Regazzi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ancona moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lumezzane V. Newly promoted Imola Virtus dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with 11 other teams. Ancona will meet higher ranked Piacentina (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
