Oviedo has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Coruna (4-4) 93-83 on Sunday. Oviedo made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Marc Penarroya (190-2002) who scored 13 points and 8 assists. Swedish forward Craig Lecesne (206-1997, college: SJSU) chipped in 13 points. Center Javier Vega (205-1988) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and American-Cuban swingman Yunio Barrueta (196-1993, college: Barry, agency: BIG) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Oviedo (1-7) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Iraurgi SB. Loser Coruna dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Oviedo will meet higher ranked Melilla (#12) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Coruna will play against Alicante and hope to secure a win.
