The biggest surprise took place in Novi Sad where host Serbian Vojvodina 021 (5-1) edged league's leader Slovenian Celje (4-1) 70-68 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Celje. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-68. 28 personal fouls committed by Celje helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Shareka McNeill (168-1999, college: NC A&T) fired 31 points for the winners. Point guard Lena Radulovic (170-2000) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American Sara Loomis (188-1997, college: Ashland) produced 25 points and 7 rebounds and Lea Debeljak (176-2001) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Vojvodina 021 have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Defending Slovenian champion Celje dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Vojvodina 021. Celje will play next round against Niksic trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Vojvodina 021 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
