No shocking result in a game when third ranked Torpan Pojat (7-4) beat on the road 6th ranked Vimpelin Veto (5-6) 73-61 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Torpan Pojat. Vimpelin Veto managed to win second period 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torpan Pojat made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-1977, college: Xavier) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Iimari Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Tynice Martin (180-1997, college: WVU) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import power forward Kristina King (190-1995, college: WVU) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Vimpelin Veto in the defeat. Four Vimpelin Veto players scored in double figures. Torpan Pojat maintains third place with 7-4 record having just one point less than leader PeKa. Loser Vimpelin Veto keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Torpan Pojat's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Helsinki Marsky Helsinki.
